2022/03  R+L Anniversary in Las Vegas

It was an early morning flight which is a first. We don't like to get to our destination too early since the hotel is not usually ready until 3pm'ish. We dropped the car off at Wally Park - even with a reservation we had to drive around the garage for quite a while to find a spot(packed!)

This was our first time using TSA Precheck and Clear. At Clear we had to "finish" enrollment. That took a few minutes of effort and the machine did not like my eyeballs, rescanning them at least 3 times. However, it was maybe 5 mins total and the airport was packed even that early and it would have been probably be about 1/2 hour otherwise.

Rather than stand and wait over an hour for our flight we opted to find the Alaska Lounge. It was a good 15mins away. We had not been there before and for the price ($30pp with an Alaska Visa) it was a little spendy. The food was meager - the only warm food was oatmeal and things you could toast. I am hoping it is just because of the time of day (early A.M.) otherwise the Delta SkyLounge is a lot nicer.

However, the bar was SPECTACULAR - stiff drinks and good, organized service (they made the drinks in batches asking people in line if they wanted something particular). I was part of the Bloody Mary group. Another very nice touch is that they have a full espresso bar! If we had more time we could have made full use of the entry fee, however, having a place to sit at SeaTac was nice.

There was nothing particularly noteworthy about the flight. 20% off drinks if  you use your Alaska Visa (Woohoo!)

The Downtown Grand staff was very nice. Their Uber pickup/drop off is right out their front door which is very convenient. The front desk lady inquired about our trip and when she found out it was our Anniversary she gave us a free early check in and an upgrade! The room was actually very nice (keep in mind it was a paid room and an upgrade). It was very clean. The casino itself is very small and has a homey feel (similar to El Cortez but not as an old of a crowd). We gambled a bit there and are eligible for their $7.99 prime rib dinner which I hope to use next trip.

We like to try a different steak house each visit and the highlight of the evening was definitely Hugo's Cellar (4 Queens). I cannot recommend them enough. We have been to more expensive places like Golden Steer and Hugo's service was on par. In fact, I would rate their steak as better for less. There is more detail in the pics.

We also visited Banger's Brewery, 777 Brewery (Main Street) and Pink Box Donuts as well as Fremont. Check out the pics. The Golden Nugget slots were tight (no pics of that lol).
