2021/05 Slipper Pig and Casino/Brewery Run
We did a quick run to Paulsbo at the end of April to visit the Slippery Pig and a run of the casinos in the area (3) prior to being locked back down to Phase 2. At the time, several neighboring counties were rolled back and our county was failing all the metrics also. As it turned out our Governor exempted our county and froze all the counties in their current Phase for 2 weeks.
The Slippery Pig is one of my favorite stops - great atmosphere and staff and amazing Bloody Mary's!They were swamped! The BMs presentation was not as nice as they usually are but they were delicious. We opted to have the BMs sans the sandwiches rather than wait. It doesn't make for as cool pics.
Our next stop was the Clearwater Casino. Usually a fan but the crowd was a bit off. I am going to be honest - a LOT of Karens (well, we were in Paulsbo on a sunny weekend). Quite frankly they were using the COVID rules to be entitled and claim entire huge sections of space as their own. One person moved her chair into a position so that no one else could play an entire row of machines and complained that we weren't "allowed" to play close to her. Others just sighed and gave us dirty looks as they removed their feet/personal items from the 3 machines that they were occupying. The slots were tight. They also temperature check you from each area - go to dinner you have to be rechecked. Same with the hotel (we weren't staying there).
We then went to the Point where we were staying. This is a fun casino - much more laid back and I won back some $. If you are staying there access to the restaurants and hotel are seamless. The food was very good. The room was also very nice - definitely will stay again.
We then went to 7Cedars - always a nice drive and had a lot of fun there. A stop to the Bourbon Bar is a must - any other Bourbon fans interested?
We had some spare time on our final day and decided to stop at a few (additional) local breweries. Valholl is one my favorites, it's small but I do enjoy their beer and the staff is always friendly. Western Red was next - it is literally a street over. It is deceptively large with a ton of beers. The final one was Rainy Daze - it was packed. It was my least favorite for beers but they were friendly and a ton of parking.
It was a short trip, but a very nice getaway!
