ICYMI - Biden Bans Russian Imports
In case you missed it - the Biden Administration has banned the import of Russian ammunition and firearms!
This is big because in this ammunition shortage, a large majority of ammunition that has been available lately has been from imports and will remain in effect for at least 12 months.
I do not know how the import permitting works, I but suspect this stops anything not already approved and in process which will drive the prices of what little supply there currently is.
Read the announcement here:
https://www.state.gov/fact-sheet-united-states-imposes-additional-costs-on-russia-for-the-poisoning-of-aleksey-navalny/
New sanctions imposed today under the CBW Act include:
- Restrictions on the permanent imports of certain Russian firearms. New and pending permit applications for the permanent importation of firearms and ammunition manufactured or located in Russia will be subject to a policy of denial.
Time to comment on the ATF/Biden proposal to make gun parts firearms!
By now most everyone has heard of the ATF's Proposed Rules to reclassify firearms and parts. If not, a quick Google will reveal much more information that I could possibly type today.
It is now time for the public to comment!!!
(Link also has complete text of the proposal)

Firearms historian testifies to Senate using actual facts!
This is good stuff!
Actual historian corrects the gun control and clearly labels "ghost guns" as propaganda. I especially like her refusal to use the term "ghost" guns because it implies that they are somehow invisible.

Glock wins PLCAA lawsuit, despite Biden asking for God's intervention
Despite President Biden asking God for intervention. Someone shooting someone through negligence (stupidity) and then attempting to blame the firearm for being "defective" is exactly what the PLCAA is for. People also forget that is was passed with bi-partisan support.
"The suit was filed against Glock, an Austrian gun-maker, on behalf of Carlos Travieso Jr., who was in a car with others returning from a church retreat in 2018. Another teenager found the 9 mm pistol in the car and apparently thought it was safe because the magazine holding the bullets was missing. However, there was a bullet in the chamber, and when she pulled the trigger, it hit Travieso, paralyzing him.
The suit charged that Glock, the No. 1 firearms manufacturer in U.S. sales, did not have adequate safety features on the gun warning that a live round was in the chamber. The pistol does have a chamber indicator, but the suit said the gun was defective because it did not include other warnings or safeties.
Glock said it was covered by the immunity act because the shooting was a criminal act."
Oh, and the Biden part: " If I get one thing on my list, (if) the Lord came down and said, ‘Joe, you get one of these,’ give me that one.” He added, “Because I tell you what, there would be a come-to-the-Lord moment these folks would have, real quickly.”"
Bill to Ban Suppressors highlights that even the NFA isn't good enough
Suppressors, commonly called silencers are ALREADY a part of this.
Even the NFA isn't enough.

Biden announces gun control announcements
We have all been bracing for Biden's executive orders regarding gun control. They have been long promised and still reside on his campaign website to this day. The announcement today announces what they will be addressing shortly. Although completely lacking in any detail, it does give us topics. Unfortunately, we already knew and feared they were coming (like pistol braces and "ghost guns").
Here are the key points of the announcement "fact sheet":
- The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.”
- The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act.
- The Justice Department, within 60 days, will publish model “red flag” legislation for states.
- The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions.
- The Justice Department will issue an annual report on firearms trafficking.
- The President will nominate David Chipman to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
US House passes HR8 - lengthening background checks and requiring them for private sales
Today, the U.S. House passed an expansion of the time required to wait for a failed background check, create a National Registry (for confiscation later) and an unenforceable private sales background check requirement. Criminals understandably upset and now refuse to wear masks.
NOTE: Sarcasm
Added 3/11/21 @ 1721:
Someone asked me to elaborate on the failed background check on social media. Here is my response:

...The second bill, which passed 219-210, would extend the review period for background checks from three to 10 days. Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., introduced the legislation after a shooter killed nine people at a Charleston, S.C., church in 2015. The FBI said afterward that a ***background check examiner never saw the shooter's previous arrest report because the wrong arresting agency was listed *** in state criminal history records, and the gun dealer was legally permitted to complete the transaction after three days."
WA State: bill prefiled to ban "high capacity" magazines and allow local zoning
And so it begins again...
What You Need to Know About SB 5078
Over the past few legislative cycles in Washington State, the firearm industry has been successful in narrowly stopping multiple efforts by the legislature to ban “large capacity magazines” and modern sporting rifles (MSRs) or what is being termed as “assault rifles.”
It appears 2021 will be more of the same in the Evergreen State. NSSF’s Government Relations – State Affairs team learned SB 5078 has been prefilled. If enacted, SB 5078 would make it a criminal offense to manufacture, possess, distribute, import, sell, purchase or transfer a magazine with a capacity greater than 10 rounds.
Additionally, SB 5038 was introduced and while mostly focused on banning an individual’s right to open carry, it also contains a troubling provision for retailers. It gives municipalities some authority to use zoning ordinances for the purposes of limiting the lawful commerce and location of firearm retailers.
NSSF®’s Government Relations – State Affairs team is committed to defeating all egregious bills this session and will provide updates on the situation as the session unfolds. As we get more information in the coming days, we’ll follow up this alert with ways you can help us defeat this anti-industry bill.
Help end illegal attempt at back door gun control (by going through the banks) - Please comment by Jan 4
Please comment on the attempt to end effective attempt at back door gun control by removing the possibility of funding to the firearms-related industry!
Operation Choke Point is an un-Constitutional attempt at regulating something without going through any legislative process.
FROM THE NSSF:
Comments Needed for Proposed Rule to End Banking Discrimination Against Firearm Industry
The Jan. 4 deadline to close comments on a proposed rule to ensure fair access to financial services is approaching and NSSF® needs every member to comment today. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency proposed a rule that would ensure fair access to banking services by industries that are unfairly discriminated against by corporate banks and banking service companies through social responsibility campaigns. These industries include firearms and ammunition, along with oil and gas, private prisons and even cattle. This is the same discrimination Congress ended after discovering the unconstitutional Operation Choke Point, only now it’s gone private.
