I haven't written much about the Aurora shooting because there has been too much written about it already. Seems that everyone is an expert and already has their opinion made up.
One of the things that could be seen first hand was the news media's willingness to report anything whether it be fact, lie, or just plain made up (The Tea Party connection was was just wrong, and they knew it!)
A big mistake quietly covered up was the news coverage of that said the shooter was wearing a bullet-proof vest and 'head to toe' body armor. Pictures and even receipts confiscated showed it wasn't.
However, they now call it an urban assault or tactical vest without apology. But the damage is done-- countless arguments are made based on this regardless that he surrenderred without police firing a shot. Countless experts also seem to think body armor makes you invincible. Star Wars' storm troopers and countless law enforcement, who put their lives on the line every day, are not.
Like I said, people are experts and have made up their mind.
Unfortunately, this has caused a number of law enforcement distributors to further restrict body armor. Politics.
Personally, I think more people should have body armor. In fact, I wish everyone in that theater on that fateful day had been wearing a bullet proof vest.
Sadly, had the shooter (he doesn't deserve his name repeated) known that everyone there was 'invincible' he would have probably picked another 'gun free zone.'
