Czech Govt fighting EU gun restrictions: Citizens Best Defense Against Terror
Written by reg mathusz
While the EU has been pushing European nations into tighter gun restrictions as a result of increased terrorist violence. Read their ridiculous statement about making it harder for law abiding citizens to get firearms will somehow stop the flow of illegal weapons here: http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-16-4464_en.htm
Oh wait, they don't even pretend that their goal is to limit legal firearms:
"Mass shootings and terrorist attacks in Europe have highlighted the dangers posed by illegal and legal arms circulating across the EU."
However, the Czech Government has not bought into their bizarro-world logic. Not only have the Czech Govt been fighting the EU's war against guns owners but they seek to expand them.
The latest Czech proposal argues that "armed citizens would be the best defense against terror attacks."
Good for them. If anything these recent attacks have shown that the military/police/security forces are unable to provide adequate protections for their citizens.
New for 2017: Colt returns to snake guns with a new Cobra
Written by reg mathuszWow! New for 2017 Colt has returned to making it's famed "snake guns" - their snake named revolvers. In this case the first one is the Cobra.
A 6 shot small framed snub, hopefully without an internal lock (IL)? I'm onboard.
Colt has made some improvements in modernizing the revolver and has said that it can be scaled up. Hopefully this means that other snakes will follow. Notwithstanding 'Walking Dead" fans -- How about a Python? It would be amazing if they could return to the quality and fit and finish of yester-year.
I know that there will be detractors (as already shown on Colt's FB post). Luckily, J-frames exist. The SP101 exists. The Kimber K6s will exist. These are all great options, however, Colt know how to do some things and I am excited to see what they do with something that they previously mastered.
Here is a press review from Colt's release event:

ATF Form 4473 revised starting January 16, 2017
Written by reg mathuszJust a heads up to firearms purchasers that the ATF announced on the 14th that they have revised ATF 4473. For those who are not frequent buyers, it is the Federal used for all firearms purchases through a dealer.
Here is the current one: https://www.atf.gov/file/61446/download
Here is a very detailed description of the changes: http://orchidadvisors.com/atf-form-4473-firearms-transaction-record-form-4473-revised/?utm_campaign=Industry+Alerts&utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=37660754&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9aI2FjityVgUS4XcDEvoxR6G8UguI-zGPOduOMd7ITBVqLzwt85dSwevRKX6z74MrJXvXBlrRnhgt2hfG9x7q7efGFoA&_hsmi=37660754
To be honest, I only skimmed the article but I did not seeing anything dramatically huge, and it actually clarifies some issues. However, it is definitely something to be aware of for those that may be tempted to skim through the form.
MA AG's witch hunt to for GLOCK and REM to disclose consumer records continues
Written by reg mathuszSource: http://www.masslive.com/politics/index.ssf/2016/11/judge_lets_ag_maura_healey_con.html
This is ridiculous, she is suing under the guise of "consumer safety" on an item that cannot be legally purchased in her state!
The only good thing is that the judge told Glock to negotiate the scope of records with her. Her original request does not limit consumer records to just the state of Mass.
Please tell me what consumer personal information in any other state has to do with meeting Mass' consumer protection laws?
Nothing.
Sandy Hook lawsuit dismissed - Some sanity in court.
Written by reg mathuszFinally, some sanity in th legal world. The Sandy Hook Lawsuit had been previously ok'd in court under the auspices of a legal argument that said the semi-autos used in the Sandy Hook shooting should have been known to be harmful to the public and therefore exempt from the Federal 'Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act' (PLCAA). This was a pretty weak argument and if you read the law it is actually intended to protect manufacturers from this very type of lawsuit. The previous allowance of the lawsuit to continue was a travesty an willfull disregard of the law. I am glad that law has finally prevailed.

State of Missourri: legal CCW has NEVER been the problem
Written by reg mathusz
"How many more innocent people need to die before we revert to more sensible gun laws?"
Hey!! Isn't that the same line that the anti-gunners used as more and more states began adopting CCW laws in the first place 10+ years ago?
Funny because, now, all States in the Union have some form of citizen CCW and the streets have NOT been filled with the blood of legal CCW.
And speaking of of "sensible gun laws" have the anti-gunners not read:

I'll give you the short version/title:
Report: Feds, states' lapses allow gun sales to prohibited buyers
Hmm....the current laws are not working mainly due to conflicting mental health definitions and infrastructure problems.
So, the resolution is MORE gun laws?????? How does that work?
We should address the actual PROBLEMS.
And please - less rhetoric.

Washington State AG tries to make Nov name for himself by announcing firearms and magazine bans
Written by reg mathuszSource: http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/state-ag-proposes-assault-weapons-ban/
Source: http://atg.wa.gov/news/news-releases/ag-ferguson-proposes-ban-assault-weapons-high-capacity-magazines
It appears that Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson is attempting to make a name for himself in the Democratic Party by announcing an "assault weapon" ban and ban on "high capacity" magazines.
The proposed legislation will be proposed next year.
It is hard to say what form it will take since it will be modeled after other states "successful" [sic] bans and focus on new sales. Supposedly, existing firearms will be grand-fathered and there will be no provision for "registration." hmm...we have heard that before.
I guess we will have to wait and how they even define an "assault weapon" and if it is any closer to reality than the recent MA AG's interpretation: "I will know it, when I see it" ban.
South Carolina has some restrictive CCW laws. To get an out-of-state license you must own property in the state and they will not honor any CCW license for which you are not a resident.
If you live in a state that doesn't have reciprocity you are out of luck.
I am glad to see that they now honor their border states.
It is interesting to note that in this day and age (all 50 states states now have some form of CCW) that the detractors are still saying that CCW laws cost lives.
Aurora shooting survivors suing now owe Cinemark $700K
Written by reg mathuszIn a strange twist, the Aurora shooting survivors suing now owe Cinemark $700K.
They had a chance to settle with Cinemark for $150K (split 41 ways would have given them each $3658). One person refused the deal and it moved forward to court where it was almost assured that they would lose and they would be liable for Cinemark's legal fees - about $700K.
37 (of the 41) immediately dropped the case prior to go to court. The remaining however now owe the legal fees.

How much bandwidth on the internet has been used with the [my carry load] vs grizzly or "What's a good load against bear?" threads on forums?
Here is an actual real-life example of a 9mm vs grizzly that has surprisingly been making the rounds in mainstream media!

You can read the articles, but the spoilers of it are:
S&W 3953 (alloy frame 3913) with an 8 shot capacity loaded with Buffalo Bore 9mm+p 147gr hardcast (1100fps rated) took down a grizzly.
The guide fired 6 shots before the grizzly began to flee, the 7th shot hit in the pelvis fleeing, leaving him with one round!
Amazing story, and very lucky!
